Karin- Thanks for sharing this. I particularly appreciate this observation: "Without this insight, I might have chalked the family vacation up as an unpleasant experience but instead I happily shed some old, ingrained resistance." And you did this during a family occasion (which shows a lot of self-discipline and responsibility). The other thing about resistance is that it usually projects an equal amount of output in the opposite direction (whether that's complaining, or the effort to understand the situation). You have wisely chosen to be on the positive. :)

Thank you for your comment. I’m always amazed at how much life show us if we are willing to look and I like what you said about resistance. Giving in makes everything worse.
